Hyundai Genesis and Ford F-150 Top North American Vehicles
The panel of judges for the 2009 Detroit Auto Show picked Hyundai Genesis as car of the year while Ford F-150 was chose as truck of the year.
The Genesis, from the Korean car maker, bested the Ford Flex and the Jetta TDI from Volkswagen. This is the first time Hyundai was nominated to get the top spot.
The Ford F-150 ruled its class unquestionably with challenges from second placer Dodge Ram and third placer Mercedes-Benz ML320 Bluetec.
The panel of judges consists of 50 journalists from the United States and Canada. They decide which is best among the best depending on vehicle safety, design, handling, innovation, value, and satisfaction of the driver.
The award for the Hyundai Genesis was accepted by its designers. The Korean car company expressed its gratitude and celebration for emerging victors in a very competitive field.
